Yes Sparky, you can study a seemingly goofy movie like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to find out why it has become one of season’s most quotably enduring comedies. We’ll reveal the basic sketch & improv comedy rules that make every scene pop while delving into the strengths of the script, cinematography, and casting of this holiday classic. It will be the hap-hap-happiest time since… well, you know.

Ryan Hill, ArtsQuest’s Programming Director, has been watching Christmas Vacation yearly since he was 10 and still laughs every time Eddie explains why he shouldn’t be sledding. As Programming Director, he’s started the Greater Lehigh Valley Filmmaker Festival, the SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival, and the Artists Among Us program, in addition to producing thousands of film screenings and comedy shows. A standup comedian for 10+ years, he’s opened for Patton Oswalt, Dave Attell, Judah Friedlander, Marc Maron, and many more, while also spending three years as the Managing Director of the Associated Mess improv comedy team.
