Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Starring Farley Granger, Robert Walker, Ruth Roman

When tennis pro Guy Haines (Farley Granger) meets wealthy wastrel Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker) on a train, Bruno proposes the theory of “exchange murders.” Familiar with Guy’s celebrity, Bruno is aware of his unhappy marriage to wife Miriam (Laura Elliott) and his romantic involvement with Ann Morton (Ruth Roman). Baiting Guy, Bruno reveals that he feels trapped by his hated father (Jonathan Hale) and suggest Bruno discusses the theory of swapping murders. If Bruno murdered Guy's wife and Guy killed Bruno's father, and with no known link between the two men, Bruno proposes the police would be none the wiser When Guy arrives at his destination, he laughs off Bruno’s proposal, thinking nothing of it… until his wife is strangled to death.

Co-adapted by Raymond Chandler from a novel by Patricia Highsmith, Strangers on a Train perfectly exemplifies Hitchcock's favorite theme of the evil that lurks just below the surface of everyday life and ordinary men. The film was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Academy Awards and the American Film Institute listed the film as #32 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Thrills.
