It’s one of the most famous lines in film history: “You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am.” On June 13th, the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas is proud to present Elia Kazan’s On the Waterfront. Marlon Brando stars as Terry Malloy, an ex-prize fighter turned longshoreman who struggles to stand up to his corrupt union bosses. After witnessing a murder perpetrated by his corrupt union, Terry fights to remain silent. When the victim’s sister (Eva Marie Saint) enters the picture, Terry feels he can stay quiet no longer.

On the Waterfront was nominated for twelve Academy Awards, winning eight including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Supporting Actress (Eva Marie Saint).
