Alfred Hitchcock once complained that most films were merely "pictures of people talking." In Hitchcock Film Appreciation, we will see how this iconic director uses cinematic techniques such as mise en scene and editing to speak volumes. We'll also consider the recurring themes that fascinated the director and his fans throughout his 50+ year career. Finally, we'll consider the cultural and biographical contexts that produced those fascinations and some of the most beloved films in the history of cinema. For each of our four Monday classes, students will enjoy great films, stimulating conversation, and a thoroughly good eeeeeevening.
