The City of New Orleans, one of America’s most unique and diverse cities, celebrates its 300th Anniversary in 2018. To celebrate his hometown's tricentennial, its rich cultural heritage, and the bright future of its music, Trombone Shorty has handpicked an all-star line-up of Crescent City musicians to tour the nation as “Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown.” The revue will bring the spirit and the sound of New Orleans to 27 cities from coast-to-coast this August and September.
Headlined by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, the touring street party also features Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and New Breed Brass Band, plus special guest appearances by Big Easy legends Cyril Neville, Ivan Neville, Kermit Ruffins, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and more.
Part Jimi Hendrix, part James Brown and all New Orleans, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews is the bandleader and frontman of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, a hard-edged funk band that employs brass-band beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition. NPR hailed him as “New Orleans’ brightest new star in a generation,” and New York Magazine wrote that “Trombone Shorty takes in a century-plus worth of sounds—ragtime and jazz and gospel and soul and R&B and hip-hop—and attacks everything he plays with festive fervor.”
A 2011 GRAMMY Award nominee for his album "Backatown (Verve)", Andrews’ virtuosity and high-energy live shows have drawn unanimous raves worldwide with Rolling Stone calling him a “must-see act.” He was named to Forbes' “30 Under 30” Class of 2016 for Music along with Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and Jon Batiste.

Starting as a songwriter in Nashville, Gilbert launched his singing career in 2009 with the album “Modern Day Prodigal Son.” In 2011 he joined forces with all-star country producer Dann Huff to release “Halfway to Heaven” featuring singles, "Country Must Be Country Wide" and "You Don't Know Her Like I Do,” which both went to number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. As part of his tour that year, Gilbert played Musikfest’s Plaza Tropical.
Gilbert was named Top New Male Artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2013, and in 2014 won the American Music Award for Favorite Country Album for “Just As I Am.” He’s now one of only four country artists with back-to-back platinum certified albums among greats like Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.
With 2017’s “The Devil Don’t Sleep,” the songwriter again worked with Huff to capture the slow burn of electric guitars, crashing drums and acoustic flourishes that define the heavy country fused with hard rock edge of Gilbert’s musical attack. Hits from the album include “It’s About To Get Dirty,” “Bullet In A Bonfire” and “Tried To Tell Ya.”

Since getting his start 15 years ago performing in coffeehouses in his adopted city of San Diego, Mraz has brought his positive message and soulful, folk-pop sound to audiences around the world through his recordings, vibrant live performances and philanthropic efforts. Along the way, he has earned two GRAMMY Awards, as well as platinum and multi-platinum certifications in more than 20 countries for his releases, sold 48 million singles and made pop history with his record-breaking classic single, "I'm Yours." He’s also won a prestigious Hal David Songwriter Hall of Fame Award, performed in amphitheaters and arenas across the globe and sold out such iconic venues as The Hollywood Bowl, Madison Square Garden and London's O2 Arena. While best known for songs like “The Remedy,” “I Won’t Give Up” and “Love Someone,” as well as the mega-hit "I’m Yours," Mraz has branched out into acting, and recently concluded his starring role as Dr. Pomatter in “Waitress the Musical” on Broadway with Sara Bareilles.
Opening for Mraz is folk/pop singer-songwriter Brett Dennen. On his 2008 album “Hope For The Hopeless,” Dennen was joined by Mraz, Femi Kuti and Natalie Merchant; he’s best known for his singles “Ain’t No Reason” and “Wild Child.”
